THE PIRATE VOYAGE



Divide the group into six smaller groups and assign each group one of the words listed below. Read the story. After each of the words is read pause for the group to make the appropriate response.
PIRATE/S "Brave and daring"
BLUEBEARD Stroke beard and sag, "Walk the plank!"
FORT ROYAL Stand up and sag, "Land HO"
SHIP "Jolly roger"
SPANISH GALLEON "Watch out!"
SAILS or SAILING "Oh.. my aching back!"

Long, long ago before any of you were born, on a distant island called Tortuga, there lived a brave and daring group of people know as PIRATES___. These PIRATES___ were noted for their ability as seamen and SAILING___ their SHIPS___.

One day the PIRATES___ led by BLUEBEARD __, decided to set out on a perilous journey to find a new home in FORT ROYAL___. The PIRATES___ loaded their SHIP___ with supplies and started SAILING___ toward FORT ROYAL___.

For many days and nights, the SHIP___ rolled and pitched through the stormy waters. Great SPANISH GALLEONS___ sailed dangerously close to the PIRATE__ SHIP___. Each time BLUEBEARD __ daringly steered his little bond of PIRATES___ post the lumbering SPANISH GALLEONS___. Working the SAILS___ fast and furiously, they managed to keep the PIRATE___ SHIP___ upright.

Finally, after weeks of SAILING___ through the stormy seas and post all those treacherous SPANISH GALLEONS___, the daring PIRATES___ led by BLUEBEARD___, in their PIRATE___ SHIP___ sighted FORT ROYAL___. With great joy, the PIRATES___ continued SAILING___ until they heaved to on the shores of FORT ROYAL___.

"No more SPANISH GALLEONS___!"cheered BLUEBEARD __
. "No more SAILING___!" cheered the PIRATES___.
"No more PIRATES___!" cheered the SHIP___."

Everyone was happy to be in FORT ROYAL___. And that is the story of how BLUEBEARD __ and the PIRATES___ settled FORT ROYAL___.
