CALVIN - SUPER CUB SCOUT
Divide the group into five smaller groups and assign each group one of the words listed below. Read the story. After each of the words is read pause for the group to make the appropriate response.

CALVIN __ the Super Cub Scout, fought his way through the blinding SNOW __ storm. He urged the DOGS __ forward as they pulled the SLED __ across the vast Alaskan wilderness. CALVIN __ knew he must get there. The provisions in the SLED __ were desperately needed. The wind and SNOW __ pushed CALVIN __ back down the trail. The DOGS __ fought on at CALVIN'S __ urging. The forest seemed to close in around the DOG __ team, the SLED __ and CALVIN __ as darkness began to fall.
Finally, the DOGS __ could go no more. CALVIN __ knew then needed rest. He dug a cave in the SNOW ___ and built a small fire. From the SLED __ CALVIN __ pulled some meager provisions and through some food to his faithful DOGS __ taking only a small portion for himself. Those provisions would be needed at his destination. CALVIN __ snuggled down between the DOGS __ next to the SLED __ in the SNOW __ for some well earned rest. Unfortunately the scent of the food reached the nose of a hungry POLAR BEAR __ hiding in the SNOW __ not far away. The POLAR BEAR __ came running. CALVIN __ and the DOGS __ had to run for their lives. The DOGS __ pulled the SLED __ at top speed as CALVIN __hung on tight. The POLAR BEAR __ was right behind them. CALVIN __ could feel the POLAR BEAR'S __ hot breath on the back of his neck. Just as the POLAR BEAR __ was about to snatch CALVIN __ from the SLED __, the DOGS __ put on a burst of speed and they all escaped in a flurry of SNOW __, leaving the POLAR BEAR __ far behind.
They did not stop again. On through the SNOW __ sped CALVIN __ the SLED __ and the DOGS __. Soon they reached their destination and were welcomed by throngs of thankful people.
"CALVIN __ CALVIN __. Someone was shaking CALVIN __, the Super Cub Scout. "Did you fall asleep? Thanks for bringing the refreshments to the Pack Meeting." It was CALVIN'S __Den Leader. "No problem," replied CALVIN __ as the DOGS __, SLED __, SNOW __, and the POLAR BEAR __ faded into imagination.
